Wild Flower Wednesday - A Little Wilder than Normal

Ooooboy.  Day Two of my new computer and I've managed to stick all my files on top of each other. Unable to delete files.  Can't seem to move around series of other files.  Can't get out a locked mode.  I'm so looking forward meeting my little blue shirted Genius this afternoon at 2:00.

This weekend I took Bart to one of my favourite stomping grounds in Joshua Creek to see the wildflowers.  Figured the fields would be full of b-flies - and they were.  And, a very odd family that was alternately chasing after and catching butterflies, and then screaming in horror, "OOOOHHHHHHUUUUUUHHHHHH  THAT'S SOOOOOOUUUUUUHHHHHHH UUUUUUUGLLLLLLLLY!"

It was a praying mantis. Maybe there's a good reason why families should stay in the house and play computer games.  Even Bart was ready to bolt. The family leader decided that the ugly creature would be good to take home for their experiment.  I don't even want to know what the nature of that experiment was.  I suspect they were all doing one child's homework.  I'm sort of hoping the female parental unit prevailed upon the rest of the family unit that the green creature would clash with her furniture and hopefully be left alone.

As you can see, our fields are at their colourful fall best - the yellows of golden rod, the creams and purples of asters, and the pretty swishes of their clumps across the open fields.  So here goes, some Wildflower Wednesday photos in honour of our favourite Gail of Clay and Limestone.

The reason for so many of my other photos poor focus....would love to know what he's nose about after - one of these days, I'm going to install his own personal Bart-cam.

The meadow looks fantastic! Did you start it from scratch or was it already naturally there? Love the asters mixed in with the goldenrod.

Even though you had the photos a nice size, I clicked on some to make them even larger so I could see more details. What a beautiful place!

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Thanks Donna & Dave - the meadow was created by Mother Nature - just shows that I have a lot to learn when it comes to my own design work.
Gail - entirely by accident, but now that I know I did it, I'm going to continue.
Corner Sue - it really is divine & I enjoyed visiting your blog!
