It's a Race Against Time

Since last post: Hardly any rain. Garden going mad. Can't keep up with cleaning and cutting back. Muscles getting stronger. It's just all too wonderful. Will post garden photos tomorrow. Took a bit of time off to visit the Royal Botanical Gardens yesterday. It was all cherry blossoms, magnolias and forsythia - quite lovely. The sun ducked in and out - could have better lighting at times, but the subjects were simply superb.

In a few weeks the lilacs down in the dell beyond this cherry will be in bloom.

At first I liked this puff of blue at the top - now I think it's a bit distracting.

Art among the cherries.

Can you believe the saucers are just about to bloom already?

This is Magnolia 'Kobus' - apparently a slow grower, it must be quite an age, it was enormous.

Bart hoping to meet some new friends. They'd dispatch him in an instant.

You just couldn't be unhappy with your face stuck in these petals.

Corylopsis veitchiana looking quite handsome.

The view from the parking lot at the Arboretum - wanted to do a Mary Tyler Moore and run through the trees tossing my hat to the wind. (forgot my hat) (note: why is snow fencing always orange?)

This is the rock garden - I confess that Kevin & I parked the car, fence squeezed, and took these photos - so very pretty.

Can't leave without a photo in front of the cherry tree.

I love it when the colours all shriek "LOOK AT ME" all at the same time.

Just exceptional.

Gail, I can't remember a spring that is so condensed. Took a brief break to look at where everything was last year - all I can say, is no wonder my back is killing me - at this point last year, I hadn't even been able to get into the garden. Bart is such a little man - just loves compliments - doesn't matter how many or how often - thanks!
Grace - just dying to get back there to see what's next and play show and tell. You're most welcome & Bart says kisses back at ya.
Lisa & Robb - looking forward to coming for an on-line visit.
Randy & Jamie - Thx. hard to believe they've all just started to bloom - still more to come. Just need to get them out of the camera and onto the site.
Knatolee - glad to be of help.
Birgitta - looking forward to seeing your spring. This year is an exceptionally early one.
